About Lowestoft

The development of Lowestoft Harbour, including the building of the docks, was carried out from 1848 by the Eastern Counties Railway. Upon completion, these improvements boosted trade and Lowestoft became established as a flourishing seaside holiday resort. However, some of the buildings associated with this development have now been demolished.

A large wind turbine, was built in 2004 and is located near Ness Point. It was the first commercial wind turbine in Suffolk and the largest wind turbine in Britain. The site is also home to OrbisEnergy, a state-of-the-art building intended to attract business in the green energy sector to the town.
